Shima Onsen in Gunma prefecture is a hot spring resort still with some Japanese traditional scenery. The name of this Shima Onsen, literally means 40,000 referring to the legend that this hot spring can cure 40,000 kinds of sickness. Yoshimoto is a small 8-rooms hot spring Ryokan (Japanese style inn) with a design to cherish the Japanese style such as Tatami (straw mat) guest rooms and Irori (Japanese style open hearth) at the lobby. Please spend your special time with tasty Japanese cuisine, relaxing hot spring, and heartfelt “Omotenashi (hospitality)”.

In the cypress open-air bath, filled with free-flowing hot spring water, you can enjoy a moment of elegance while gazing at the Shima River in Fusen Gorge. At night, you can also admire the starry sky from the open-air bath.

A simple, modern Japanese-style room is also available for in-room dining. This room features a spacious living area with a large sofa for relaxing and a table set that's perfect for workcations. The room is decorated in calming dark tones, and we've paid close attention to the lighting to create a relaxing atmosphere, including dimmable ambient lighting and accentuating designer lights. *This room does not face the Shima River.

This bright 10-tatami mat corner room is a Japanese-style room. The best-looking window in the inn allows seasonal breezes to flow through, offering stunning views of the mountains in front and the Fusen Gorge with the Shima River flowing below. A unit bath is provided, making it a comfortable stay even for families with small children. Enjoy the Shima Onsen hot springs in our large public bath or private bath.

GUEST ROOMS General guest room

This is a simple 10-tatami mat Japanese-style room. Seasonal breezes blow through the window, and you can enjoy a view of the Fusen Gorg with the Shima River flowing below. There is no bath in the room, so please enjoy the Shima Onsen hot springs in the public bath or a private bath.

ONSEN

We have men’s and women’s big baths and a chartered bath, which are open for 24 hours a day.
Both of the men’s and women’s big baths have a large indoor bath and a open-air bath.
The chartered bath is such that the signboard outside is turned on when the door is locked from inside. You may use the chartered bath when the signboard is off to indicate it is vacant.The use of the chartered bath is limited to about 30 min at one time, but you may use it as many times as you want when it is vacant.

FACILITIES

Our home-made Japanese sweets are served at the lounge with the Irori (Japanese open hearth). Please relax first. Please do not hesitate to consult the front desk for assistance. We have a counter for Shochu tasting. Please feel free to try them.

In our charming irori (Japanese open hearth) lounge, we welcome our guests with homemade tea sweets. Behind the irori, you'll find a shochu tasting corner. Feel free to compare the different flavors of various brands.

Colored yukata
For our female customers, we offer a variety of colorful yukata (summer kimono) rentals for 540 yen each.

Restaurant
Meals are served in a tranquil private dining room. The partitions can be removed to create a larger hall, making it suitable for larger groups (maximum 16 people).
